Sicilian Sojurn: Here’s What I wore
With absolutely no shame, I am an outfit planner.
And if there was an occasion to plan for, it is a visit to the destination du jour, Taormina, Sicily. Do not let any YouTube review, TikTok video, or Instagram Reel underprepare you. Taormina is one of the most chic towns you can visit, and it is only getting better.
Somehow, Taormina retains everything that is special about Italy, which I have come to worship in the psychotic adventure of the Talented Mr. Ripley. The vibrancy, the historical presence, the refusal to modernize, and creates the ultimate backdrop to a joyful experience. It is the embodiment of relaxed hedonism.
The wardrobe for such an occasion requires a dance between laid-back and dressing to impress. At a base level, allow me to reassure you that you can spend your days in swim shorts and relaxed-fit shirts, so long as you are representing the tailored elegance of a pair of Orlebar Browns and furnishing your look with deft accessorizing: perfectly paired sunglasses, stylish totes, etc.
Beach days feel like vintage time portals, and that is an opportunity if I've ever felt one.
The other opportunity is to embrace the evening with tailored yet relaxed looks. The high street of Taormina should be considered a catwalk, and it's a waste if you do not embrace it as such. Imagine being immortalized for generations to come as your grandchildren look upon your content and dream of living up to your nonchalant execution.
I've curated a list of everything I wore in Taormina to serve as inspiration for your vintage postcard moment. And perhaps a little something to indulge in a Sicilian adventure more locally. Saluté!
