These fragrances will make you impossIble to forget
Having worked in whisky for years, you learn that every liquid is much more than what ends up in your Riedel. Every whisky is a story beyond the senses. You fight to love whisky because it makes you feel something, it is evocative - a talisman of the life you’re learning & earning. Similarly, I find myself just as enamoured with fragrance as I do with the highlands finest. Truly, the best fragrances in the world do not solely smell of something, they make you feel something.
I’ve taken upon myself the woeful task of having to venture between some of the most beautiful stores to pick apart an edit of fragrances that are unforgettable. Why do these smells mark such indelible statement on the memory? I’ll defer to the words of memorist Maya Angelou:
“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did,
but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Acqua di Parma Oud
Acqua Di Parma Oud is a fireside cashmere rollneck with a manhattan in hand envoloping you in an intimate but authentic moment which only a handful of people deserve from you. A luxurious blend of agarwood, coriander, and bergamot. The oud gives off a woody and earthy scent, which is intensified by the floral and spicy notes, a key differenatiator to the other oud scents popular on the market. This fragrance is perfect for those looking for a strong and long-lasting scent.
Diptyque Eau Capitale:
This is a daytime fragrance for lunching at Bibendum with oysters. A light occasion for which you need subtlety while retaining a sense of distinctiveness. This fragrance is the pop of a Bollinger PN VZ16 cork for no reason whatsoever other than you deserve it. Relaxed, bright but undoubtedly luxury. A blend of rose, bergamot, and pink pepper. This fragrance is perfect for those who enjoy floral scents with a hint of spice. It is fresh and lively, ideal for spring and summer.
Diptyque Eau Rihla:
I will always have a bottle of Tuscan Leather on my shelf as it was one of the breakthrough purchases I wanted to make when I started my consultancy. It has also become a hallmark of some of my favourite evenings with Miss English, but the popularity of leather fragrances has become fierce. While Tuscan Leather feels like “mine”, between Ombre Leather & Ombre Nomade the noise has become a little white. Eau Rihla is the new signature of success, the contract signing smell. A blend of incense, juniper, and vanilla. This fragrance is perfect for those who want a unique scent that is both exotic and luxurious; warm and spicy, with a touch of sweetness from the vanilla. It’s worth noting this is currently in stock, but it wont remain that way for long.
Dior Eau Sauvage:
I believe that everyone should have a “barber shop” style fragrance which you can spray liberally and Eau Sauvage is that smell. A classic fragrance that is both fresh and masculine, this is the olfactory equivalent of a traditional wet shave or a Saville Row appointment. I’ve included this smell in place of Acqua di Parma Colonia as while Colonia is the quintessential everyday must have its length is just not up to scratch and I’m not going to expect you to carry it around with you, like I do. The blend of lemon, bergamot, and vetiver gives off a citrusy and woody scent that make it a timeless smell that has lasted since 1966 when it was first conceived.
Acqua Di Parma Essenza:
As the bottle would suggest, this is a black tie take on a fresh citrusy fragrance. If you ever find yourself in the depths of a Tuscan Castello wearing a Canali linen tuxedo, this undoubtedly should be the fragrance that marks the occasion. The blend of citrus, rosemary, and lavender gives off a clean and refreshing fragrance that is perfect for summer. It is a light but long-lasting evocation that makes it perfect for warmer climates that you want to recall as a refreshing moment of style.
Molecule 01:
Sometimes you need your style to be enigmatic. You need people to wonder why your tee and trousers looks so good, and your secrets should stay with you. Molecule 01 is one of these enigmatic “why do you smell SO good” moments. This is a minimalist fragrance that is perfect for those who want a unique scent. The fragrance is made up of a single molecule, Iso E Super, which gives off a subtle woody scent that is different on each individual. It is an understated fragrance that works on your coffee run, but if you want to supercharge any of your other fragrances, layer this under your weapon of choice for a mesmerising effect.

Crocket and Jones will have walked you through the door. And you will feel at home as you are enveloped in the warm embrace of hospitality because you are a familiar name to the wonderful ladies and gentlemen that are hosting you, and Billecart will already be poured without prompt. The scent that will echo in your senses as you recall this moment will be Creed, Green Irish Tweed. A classic fragrance that is both fresh and masculine. Tom Ford Noir de Noir:
Charisma is the ability to inspire devotion in others through charm, wit and intellect. Noir de Noir confidently straddles the boundary between the earthy richness and the elegance of florals, making it an infatuation more than a scent. It takes character to pull it off, but when executed well, it is one of the most compelling fragrances a man can wear. For me it’s the ideal date fragrance for the person you want to date indefinitely. Something luxurious that is perfect for the bold and sophisticated. The blend of black truffle, vanilla, and patchouli gives off a grounded warmth which is long-lasting and to be reserved for frequent special occasions. It’s a smell I imagine you will both be wearing by the end of the evenings affairs.
